Our Favourite Stash Buster Quilt Designs

Sometimes a quilt can seem like a reason to get all new fabric. And while we won't say no to a shopping trip, you don't always have the time or money to get lots of new fabric for your stash. The good thing about a lot of our quilts is that you can get away with using what you already have. This list is not exhaustive at all, but will give you a great starting point for using up fabrics that perhaps don't get love, a mish mash of various fabrics that aren't in a pack anymore, or scrap pieces that are filling up your scrap bin!

Crazy Patchwork Blocks

It's all in the name - these blocks are crazy, so using up scraps and existing fabrics is all part of the game! Our samples across the 4 sets show how you can create a cohesive look through either similar colours, patterns, or tones, so it really is a great way to make the most of what you already have.

A Walk in the Park Quilt

One of your favourite quilts, A Walk in the Park is a design that lends itself to whatever you have on hand, with every flower and insect made with applique (except the dragonflies, which you can even choose to skip if you want to just use the square borders - another great way to burn through stash and scraps!).

Silly Season Shenanigans Quilt

We made new samples if this quilt at the end of last year, and the various samples - a quilt, a hanger, a coaster, and a cushion - really show how you can use whatever you have on hand to create something fun and fresh! This design is great for crazy patterns and plain fabrics alike, so you can really just throw your fabrics at it and see what sticks.

With Autumn here in Australia, we couldn't resist adding something that gives the cool weather vibes. Plus, for our family in the north, getting ready for the Fall season sometimes starts as early as now - especially if this will be a gift or Thanksgiving decor! Our sample shows just how many different fabrics can be used in this piece, with lots of little details to help you reduce your scrap pile just a little!

Make Your Own Fabric Blocks

This design was literally made for using scraps! Scrap fabric, scrap thread, scrap embellishments - anything in your sewing scraps really. This design creates a block of almost any size, and you can then use it in another design or to create something on the sewing machine. It's a favourite of ours and the ultimate stash buster!
