Sweet Pea's Sew Alongs & Mystery Quilts
A sew-along brings together embroidery fans from around the world in making the same design at the same time through our various Facebook groups. Our Sweet Pea Machine Embroidery Design Sew-Alongs are one of the most fun and exciting parts of our month, with two embroidery design sew alongs running every month and one bag sew along bi-monthly! We also have two mystery quilt sew alongs; a Block of the Week that runs seasonally, and a Block of the Month that goes all year.

Monthly Sew Along
The term bargello gets its roots from a series of chairs in the historical Bargello Palace in Florence, Italy, which feature a "flame stitch" pattern.

The technique creates an optical illusion of movement and depth. We used this method to create the traditional flame stitch look in a machine embroidered runner, as well as a diamond burst, but you could also use it for pixel art.
Our instructions show you how to make a runner using a paper-pieced technique with a particular layout, but you could change the layout (we provide 3 examples) or turn it into various other projects like bags, placemats, cushions, etc.
The design is made in the hoop then the rows, border, and backing are assembled with a regular sewing machine.
A quilting panel is also included and can potentially be used to forego some sewing.

KISS Sew Along
Turn any sewing project into a breeze with our Wrist Pin Cushion! This quirky cushion is can be worn on your wrist, giving you easy access to pins while keeping your hands free.
This adorable pin cushion can be made in the 4x4 size hoop and is an in the hoop machine embroidery design.
The cushion requires only one hooping and the straps can either be made ITH or you could use ribbon/elastic instead if preferred in any length you need. If making the ITH straps we recommend a Kam snap closure or Velcro to secure it. A sewing machine is required to create the backing for the pin cushion.

Bag Technique Sew Along
Get ready to bring some retro charm to your outfit with our Retro Revival Lap-tote! This is an ITH (in the hoop) machine embroidery design.
This laptop tote has a three pockets on the back, two zipper pockets under the front flap (optional), and a zipper closure. To add all of these elements requires more advanced sewing skills but our tutorial video can be used alongside our detailed written instructions to make this project easier
The design comes in two sizes - the largest can be made in the 6x10 and the medium-sized version can be made in the 8x8 hoop (optional to use a 5x7 hoop for some blocks to save stabiliser). The bag is completely lined and has no raw seams.
